Baked Vegan Makroud ( Semolina Balls)

Ingredients to make Baked Vegan Makroud ( Semolina Balls)

  • For the dough- 3 cups sooji
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Grated beetroot - at least 2 cups
  • Cane sugar - as per your sweet preference
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Roasted almonds
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How to make Baked Vegan Makroud ( Semolina Balls)

  1. Grate beetroot, cook till its soft in a 1 tbsp of oil and cane sugar ( as per your sweet tooth!).
  2. Add 2 tablespoons roughly chopped roasted almonds, nutmeg, salt and the sooji.
  3. Put into the fridge for an hour.
  4. Roll into small balls, keep your hands slightly wet with water and roll in the dough mix shared above. Place on the greased baking tray and bake for 20 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius.
