ABOUT WHOLE WHEAT AND BAJRA KHAKHRA RECIPE

Khakhra is a healthy snack from Gujarat which has gained popularity everywhere. These days they make khakhras in many flavours and variations.These can be munched at any time of the day. The process is time consuming but it is worth the efforts to have home made khakhras.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. whole wheat flour .. 1 cup
  2. Bajra flour .............. 1/4 cup
  3. Ajwain ................. 1/4 tsp
  4. Roasted and powdered fenugreek seeds .. 1/4 tsp
  5. Oil .............. 3 tsps
  6. Salt .... to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients and knead together. Rest the dough for 30 minutes.
  2. Take small portions and roll out very thin rotis. If you want you can use a cutter to make perfect round ones.
  3. Roast them on the tawa maintaining low heat. After half a minute turn the side. Keep pressing it with a folded kitchen napkin or a wooden press specially available for this purpose.to avoid the bubbles in the khakhra.
  4. Once they are cool you can store them in an air tight container.
