ABOUT Spicy Kuzhi Paniyaram Recipe | Masala Paniyaram RECIPE

Kuzhi paniyaram is a quick and easy popular south Indian breakfast/snacks dish. This kuzhi paniyaram is a spicy version using leftover idli/dosa batter.It would go well with coconut chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Idli/Dosa Batter - 1 1/2 Cups
  2. Onions - 1/2 Cup (chopped finely)
  3. Green Chilli / Milagai - 3 to 4 slited
  4. Coriander Leaves / Cilantro - 2 to 3 tbsp (chopped)
  5. Curry Leaves - 2 springs (chopped)
  6. Salt - little ( see notes)
  7. Coconut Oil - for frying
  8. For tempering
  9. Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
  10. Mustard Seeds / Kadugu - 1 tsp
  11. Urad dal / Ulunthu - 1 tsp
  12. Ginger garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
  13. Hing / Asafoetida / Perunkayam - 2 pinches
  14. Curry leaves - 1 Spring

Instructions

  1. Take idli/dosa batter in a bowl.
  2. add finely chopped onions,curry leaves,coriander leaves and green chilli.Mix well.
  3. In a hot pan , add 1 tbsp coconut oil, add mustard seeds wait for spluttering then add urad dal when it turns into golden color. Add asafoetida & ginger garlic paste,stir well, then add curry leaves and fry for few seconds.Off the flame.
  4. Pour the seasoned mixture into that batter.
  5. Mix it well. Check salt if you need to add more.
  6. Take a kuzhi paniyaram pan and heat it over a medium flame. Fill 3/4 of coconut oil in each mold,once hot ,pour the batter into each mold. Let it cook until good golden color.
  7. Flip it over the next side and let it cook.
  8. After cooked in both sides, transfer to the kitchen paper towel.
  9. Your Kara Kuzhi Paniyaram is ready now. Enjoy with coconut chutney or your desired chutney.
