ABOUT Simple Khitchdi RECIPE

A mixture of 3 different daals and rice, made yummy with spices and lots of ghee!!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Uradh daal tooti chilke wali, 1/2 cup
  2. Arhar daal, 1/4 cup
  3. Moong daal bina chilke wali, 1/4 cup
  4. Rice, 1 cup
  5. Oil, 2 tablespoons
  6. Jeera, 1 teaspoon
  7. Hing, 1/4 teaspoon
  8. One medium sized onion, chopped
  9. Salt, 1 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Red Chilli powder, 1 teaspoon
  11. Turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Ghee for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Soak all the daals and rice mix in 3-4 cups water for 15 mins. Get all the ingredients together.
  2. Add oil to the cooker and let it heat up.
  3. Add the jeera, hing and let it crackle.
  4. Add the chopped onions and saute till they turn slightly red.
  5. Next, add the mixture with the water and mix well.
  6. Add in the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well.
  7. Close the cooker with the lid and let it cook for 2 whistles.
  8. Open the lid after 5-10 mins. Your Khitchdi is ready! Drizzle in ghee as you like.
