ABOUT Instant Microwave Dhokla RECIPE

Instant Microwave Dhokla is the first microwave recipe that I learnt. Dhokla is a very famous Gujrati dish. It is traditionally steam cooked. In my recipe, I have used microwave instead of steam cooking which reduces a lot of hassle and cuts down the cooking time. This recipe is very healthy as we hardly use 2-3 teaspoons of oil. It is liked by people of all age groups. I have prepared it using Gram Flour or Besan.

  2. Now add 1 spoon sugar, 1 spoon salt, grated ginger and a spoon of oil to the besan curd mixture and mix well. Add a spoon of turmeric for a nice yellow colour and a pinch of asafoetida.
  3. Grease a plastic container with oil. Add a sachet of Eno fruit salt to the above mixture and mix well. Now add this mixture to the container till 3/4th height so the mixture has enough space to expand;

  5. Now cut the dhokla into small cubicle pieces and let it remain inside the box.
  6. Now for preparing the syrup, slit 5-6 green chilies vertically. Wash curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  7. Take a spoon full of oil in a pan and heat it. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds,chilies, coriander and curry leaves. Add a cup of water when the seeds start to splutter. Now add a spoon of sugar and salt as per the taste.
  8. After boiling for a minute, switch off the flame and squeeze a lemon into the syrup. Now the syrup is ready.
  9. Pour the syrup with the help of a spoon to the dhoklas. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes.
