Banana plant itself is a wholesome health treasure and banana stem is one of it. It purifies blood, cures urinary infection, helps draining kidney stones. It is rich in fibre and helps digestion.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1. Banana stem - 1cub-it,
  2. 2. Urad dal - 1/2tsp,
  3. 3.mustard seeds - 1/4tsp,
  4. 4.Buttermilk - 250ml
  5. 5.Salt as per taste,
  6. 6.Curry leaf - 1stem
  7. 7.Oil - 1tsp,
  8. 8.Water for cooking,
  9. 9.Turmeric - 1pinch
  10. 10. Dry red chilli -1 broke into 2 pieces
  11. 11.Roasted and croasely ground peanuts - 20gms

Instructions

  1. Most crucial part of cooking banana step is the cleaning process.
  2. Cut the stem to roundels and swirl your finger around it to remove the threads,
  3. Then chop the roundels into small pieces and swirl them in water to remove threads
  4. Now pour enough water and cook adding salt and turmeric till the pieces are fully cooked,
  5. Now in a kadai heat oil, add mustard seeds when they start crackling add urad dal and add 1 red chili and curry leaves fry for a minute,
  6. Now add the cooked stem and fry for a minute. Now sprinkle roasted and coarsely ground peanut powder over it and mix well.
  7. Can be served as side dish anf tastes yumm when mixed with rice. Goes well with rotis too.
