Kala chana pulav is slightly better in terms of nutrition on profle. Indian meal that makes great vegetarian meal and nutrition pulav.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 3/4 cup black chana
  2. 300 gm rice
  3. Tomato 2 chopped
  4. 2 tsp ginger chopped
  5. 1/2 cup coriender leaves chopped
  6. 1/4 cup pudhina
  7. 1 green chilli
  8. 1 inch dalchani
  9. Hing
  10. 3 cloves
  11. 1 tbsp coriender pwr
  12. 1 tsp jeera pwr
  13. 1 tsp red chilli pwr
  14. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  15. 1 tsp garam masala
  16. Water 3 cup
  17. 4 tbsp oil
  18. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak black chana in water for 7-8 hrs. Clean them then cook them with some water in pressure cooker for one whistle.
  2. Open the lid and cook chana for another 20 minutes. Let it cool and dont throw the water.
  3. Meanwhile soak rice in water for half an hour.
  4. Finely grind tomatoes, corainder leaves, pudhina, ginger and green chilli.
  5. Take a pan and add oil, cloves and dalchine. After sometime add hing and the grinded mixture.
  6. Now add coriander powder, turmeric, red chilli powder and jeera powder. mix well, till oil leaves the mixture.
  7. Now add rice and chana. Now add the water which was kept aside, salt and garam masala. Cook till it boils.
  8. Cook on low flame till the chana becomes soft. Chana pulav is ready. Serve with raita.
