Ingredients to make Baozi

  • 500 grams maida
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 400 grams minced chicken
  • 1 peice of ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg white
  • butter paper

How to make Baozi

  1. Dissolve sugar in warm water. Then add yeast and set aside.
  2. Take a bowl, mix flour, yeast, baking powder, oil and water and knead it into a dough. Keep aside for an hour.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, saute onions and spring onions till translucent.
  4. In a bowl, take minced meat, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, cornflour and egg white and mix well.
  5. Make small flat balls of the dough and roll them into small circles.
  6. stuff the circle with a tbsp of the mince mixture
  7. Pinch the edges of the dough.
  8. Fill the steamer with water and boil the water.
  9. Place the butter paper into the steamer basket and place the dumplings over it.
  10. Cover the steamer with a damp towel and cover it with the lid.
  11. Steam for 15 mins.
  12. Serve with hot chilli sauce or spicy mustard.
