Shami Kebab

Ingredients to make Shami Kebab

  • 500 g Meat mince  
  • 1/3 cup Chana daal soaked overnight
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1.5-2 tbsp Garam masala  
  • 2-3 red chilies  
  • 6-8 garlic cloves
  • 1'' piece of ginger
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder  
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder  
  • Salt as required
  • Oil
  • Breadcrumbs for coating
  • 2 green chillies

How to make Shami Kebab

  1. Take a deep vessel, add meat,chana dal, garam masala, garlic, ginger, salt, cumin powder and coriander powder and water.
  2. Cook till chana dal and meat becomes well cooked and when water is dried up alternatively give 3-4 whistles in pressure cooker.
  3. Fry half of the onion in a pan till golden brown.
  4. Grind chana meat mixture alongwith the fried onions to a paste, either in a blender or with mortar and pestle.
  5. Finely chop remaining onion and the green chiilies and add to the mixture, add some fresh coriander too
  6. Make small flat balls and coat with breadcrumbs, refrigerate for half an hour.
  7. Heat oil in a pan, deep/shallow fry kebabs till golden brown.
  8. Serve with mint chutney.
