  10. INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE-
  11. All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
  12. Cocoa Powder, unsweetened - 1/2 cup
  13. Icing sugar - 1 1/2 cup
  14. Baking powder - 1 tsp
  15. Eggs - 4 large
  16. Butter, room temperature - 1 cup
  17. Vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  18. Salt - 3/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. MAKING THE RED CAKE: Preheat Oven to 180 C. Grease the baking pan with some butter. In large mixing bowl, take sugar and butter. Beat it with hand mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add vanilla essence, 2 eggs at a time and beat again. Scrape the sides of bowl and add 2 more eggs and beat it again. Now sift all the dry ingredients into the creamy batter. Mix all well without any lump formation.
  3. Add food color, mix it until you get the uniform color. Add more drops until you get the desired color. Transfer the batter to prepared pan and bake it for 50 mins or Insert toothpick on the center of the cake, it should come out clean.
  4. Once it is baked, carefully remove it from oven. Let it sit for 15 mins. Then remove the cake to cooling rack and let it completely cooled down. Once it cooled down, cling wrap it and keep it in refrigerator until usage.
  5. MAKING OF CHOCOLATE BATTER: Grease the baking pan with some butter and set aside. In large mixing bowl, take sugar and butter. Beat it with hand mixer until smooth and fluffy
  6. Add vanilla essence, 2 eggs at a time and beat again. Scrape the sides of bowl and add 2 more eggs and beat it again. Now sift all the dry ingredients to the creamy batter. Mix all well without any lump formation.
  7. PLACE CUTE HEARTS AND BAKE: Take out the red cake from fridge and slice it up evenly. Take a heart shape cookie cutter and cut out a heart shape in every slice of cake. Keep the heart aside. (you can make cake pops with leftover cake)
  8. Now fill 1/4 th of the greased pan with chocolate batter and gently tap on the counter to spread evenly. Arrange the hearts next to each other in the center of the loaf pan. Make sure there is no gap in between 2 hearts. pack them closely.
  9. Leave some space around the packed hearts, so that we can fill that space with chocolate batter and it hides the hearts. Now add the remaining chocolate batter to the sides of the pan.
  10. Gently tap it on the counter, so that batter flows through all around the hearts. Don't tap it hard, the hearts will get misplaced. Bake it for 50 mins or Insert toothpick on the center of the cake, it should comes out clean.
  11. Once it is baked, cool in the pan for 15 minutes and then remove it to cooling rack. Hidden cake is ready!
  12. You can frost the cake as your wish. Here I used, whipped cream frosting and rainbow sprinklers. TADA! its done... Super yummy surprise cake is ready :) Enjoy..
