Ingredients to make Pav Bhaji

  • Pav bhaji masala powder:
  • coriander powder- 2 tbsp
  • cloves- 2 nos
  • cardamom- 2 nos
  • cinnamon stick- 1 small stick
  • cumin powder- 1 tbsp
  • Black peppercorns- 1 tbsp
  • red chilli powder- 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tbsp
  • Ingredients for bhaji:
  • potatoes (boiled and mashed)- 2 nos
  • onions (chopped)- 2 nos
  • ginger and Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  • carrots (cubed)- 2 nos
  • Beans (chopped)- 10 nos
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Pav bhaji masala- 2 tbsp
  • green chillies (chopped)- 2 nos
  • tomatoes (chopped)- 2 nos
  • butter (at room temp)- 1 tbsp
  • lemon Juice- 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves- 1 bunch
  • Pav bread (toasted with butter)- 4-5 nos

How to make Pav Bhaji

  1. Method: Dry roast all the ingredients of the 'Pav Bhaji Powder' and grind it to a fine powder. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Fry till they turn translucent. In this add the ginger and garlic paste and green chillies.
  3. Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and the prepared pav bhaji masala. Mix it well.
  4. Add the boiled and mashed vegetables along with the chopped tomatoes and keep it on a high flame for 5 mins.
  5. Then lower the flame and cook for about 10- 15 mins, till all the gravy is thickened.
  6. Once the gravy is thickened add the salt and turn off the flame. At last add the lemon juice and butter and mix well.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve this along with chopped onions and butter roasted pav on a lovely evening.

Yeah Piyali, You can prepare this dish without onions and garlic. It would taste good.
