ABOUT Khichri/Khichuri RECIPE

As we know, The Ministry of Food Processing Industries is a bid to popularise and promote Indian Cuisines internationally. India’s favourite comfort food Khichdi is now the Brand Indian Food as it has won the heart of most and the healthiest preparation food of India. Now this is an authentic Bengali cuisine Khichuri. My platter of khichuri is along with mixed vegetables (ghet), veggies fry, sweet tomato chutney and ghondho lebu(scented lemon). Best to eat in any season.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup jeera rice washed
  2. 1 cup Moong dal washed
  3. 1 tsp of grated ginger
  4. 1 tsp of cumin coriander powder
  5. salt as per taste
  6. 2 bay leaves
  7. Oil 3-4 tsp
  8. punch phuran 1 tsp
  9. 2 dry red chillies
  10. 5/6 cups
  11. Ghee 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat a cooker with oil and temper the punch phuran in it along with the dry red chillies
  2. Now after the seeds splits , pour the rice, dal and water together along with salt and turmeric powder
  3. Add the ginger, bay leaf and cumin coriander powder and stir it nicely so that everything mixes well.
  4. Cover the cooker with its lid and give 4-5 whistle.
  5. Give it time to open the lid and serve with a tsp of ghee over it along with some mixed vegetables and veggies fries.
