Ingredients to make Chana Bateta (Chatpati)

  • Boiled black Chana 2 cups
  • 2 tbsp Gram flour
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 3 Dry powders:
  • Red Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Handful of mint leaves
  • 2 Potatoes
  • Tamarind paste as per taste

How to make Chana Bateta (Chatpati)

  1. Dice cut potatoes and shallow fry it.
  2. Take a pan, heat some oil, add cumin and the dry powders. Add in the gram flour, saute it for 2 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and mix it well.
  3. Let it simmer for some time, add fried potatoes and sprinkle salt as per taste.
  4. Add mint leaves and tamarind paste, add little water cover and let it cook for a few minutes.
  5. Take a serving bowl, fill it with Chana Bateta. Put a little paste of tamarind and sprinkle red chilly powder, mint leaves and chopped onions. Serve hot.
