Ingredients to make Homestyle Chicken Curry

  • 1 kg Chicken pieces(can be boneless if desired)
  • 2 Large onions(pureed)
  • 5-6 Large Red tomatoes(pureed)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Deggi mirch
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Fresh cream
  • 2 Fresh Green chillies, sliced(or as per taste)
  • Fresh Ginger juliennes for garnishing
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 cups Hot water
  • 1 tsp Crushed Kasuri Methi

How to make Homestyle Chicken Curry

  1. Heat ghee in a heavy pan.
  2. Fry the Chicken pieces, a few at a time till brown and almost cooked. Remove and reserve.
  3. In the same ghee, add the pureed onions and brown over low heat.
  4. Now add in the cumin, ginger-garlic paste and deggi mirch.
  5. Fry for 2 more minutes, then tip in the tomato puree.
  6. Let cook till oil separates.
  7. Add in the Chicken pieces, green chillies, turmeric, garam masala and salt. Mix well.
  8. Add hot water and transfer Chicken to a pressure cooker and cook for upto two whistles, alternately cover and cook for 15-20 minutes in the pan or till Chicken is cooked through.
  9. Mix in the cream and kasuri methi, adjust the amount of gravy required.
  10. Garnish with the ginger juliennes and serve hot.
