Ingredients to make Kala chana pulao ( Black gram pulao)

  • rice 1 cup (soaked)
  • Kala chana 1/2 cup (soaked and boiled)
  • onion 1 chopped
  • ginger 2 teaspoon chopped
  • garlic 3 teaspoon chopped
  • green chillies 2 chopped
  • tomato 1 chopped
  • cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Green cardamom 2
  • cloves 4
  • bay leaves 2
  • Black pepper 4
  • salt 2 tablespoon or to taste
  • ghee 3 tablespoon
  • water 2 cup
  • coriander leaves 2 tablespoon chopped

How to make Kala chana pulao ( Black gram pulao)

  1. First put the ghee into a pan and add cumin seeds, green cardamom,cloves, bay leaves,black pepper. When masalas starts spluttering add garlic, ginger and onion. Saute till it becomes golden brown.
  2. Add chopped tomato and cook till masala leaves ghee. Now add boiled chana and roast it for 5 mintues.
  3. Add salt, green chillies and rice. Stir constantly and add water. And mix well. You can also add leftover water of boiled chana. This will increase the taste.
  4. Close the lid and cook till rice turns soft. When rice becomes soft add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with raita.

My Tip:

You can use oil instead of ghee.
