ABOUT Tawa Pulao RECIPE

Tawa Pulao is a famous street food in Mumbai. Rice and vegetables sauted together with pav bhaji masala and spices.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Boiled/ Leftover Rice - 2 Cups
  2. Onion - 1 Finely Chopped
  3. Tomato Paste - 1/2 cup (It gives a nice colour ) or Tomato -3, finely chopped
  4. Ginger-Garlic Paste -1 tsp
  5. Green Peas - 1/4 cup
  6. Carrot -1, diced
  7. Potato - 1, chopped
  8. Green Capsicum -1 finely chopped
  9. Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  10. Pav bhaji masala - 2 tsp
  11. Lemon Juice -2 tbsp
  12. Coriander leaves - finely chopped 2 tbsp
  13. Oil - 1 tbsp
  14. Butter - 2 tbsp
  15. Jeera -1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Steam the carrot, potato and green peas till they are cooked well.
  2. In a pan, heat the oil and butter, then add the jeera. Next add the finely chopped onion and fry them till they turn translucent. Then add the ginger-garlic paste till the raw smell goes away.
  3. Next add the tomato paste/chopped tomato till the oil oozes out. Then add pav bhaji masala, red chilli powder, stir and saute it very well.
  4. Then add the steamed veggies, capsicum, salt and stir it again. Finally add the cooked /leftover rice and gently mix it.
  5. Sprinkle lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
  6. Serve it with raita /papad/pickle.
