Ingredients to make Dal tadka

  • Toor dal 1/4 cup
  • Moong dal 1/4
  • turmeric pinch
  • salt to taste
  • tomatoes 2
  • green chillies 4
  • ginger chopped 1 tsp
  • garlic chopped 4
  • For tadka
  • butter 2 tsp
  • hing pinch
  • 2 dry chillies
  • Cuminseeds 1 tsp
  • onion seeds 1 tsp

How to make Dal tadka

  1. Soak all the dals for 20 mins.
  2. Pressure cook the dal with required amount of water, until boiled.
  3. Heat some butter in a kadhai.
  4. Add cumin and onion seeds.
  5. Add chopped garlic and ginger, let them smell.
  6. Saute well
  7. Add chopped tomatoes and mix.
  8. Saute well
  9. Add green chillies, hing, mix well.
  10. Add salt
  11. Add cooked dal and mix well. Once the dal has simmered enough, serve.
