Poppy Seeds Halwa

Ingredients to make Poppy Seeds Halwa

  • 1 cup poppy seeds washed and soaked for 5 hours
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 3-4 Green cardamom
  • 3-4 almonds slivered

How to make Poppy Seeds Halwa

  1. Grind the poppy seeds along with a little milk in a food processor to make a smooth paste
  2. Heat 1/4 cup ghee in a non stick pan, add the ground poppy seed paste.
  3. Roast till colour changes and emits a nice aroma, add more ghee if needed Remove and keep aside
  4. Add milk, sugar and cardomoms in a pot, bring it to a boil
  5. Now add the roasted poppy seeds and cook until it becomes thick
  6. Transfer it into a serving dish and drizzle the remaining ghee.
  7. Garnish with almonds and serve warm!
