ABOUT Spicy Crab Masala RECIPE

A very delicious and spicy South Indian style carb dish. Aromatic and flavorful. If you love carb and like spicy food you can try this and i am sure you will love it.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 5 Crabs approx 750 gms
  2. 3 tbsps Coconut oil
  3. 1 tsp fennel seeds
  4. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  5. 1 tsp Peppercorns
  6. 2 onion sliced
  7. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  8. 2 tomatoes chopped
  9. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 1 tbsp Chilly powder
  11. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  12. 1 tbsp grated coconut
  13. 2 tbsps poppy seeds
  14. 6 whole cashewnuts
  15. 2 cardamom
  16. 3 cloves
  17. 1 small cinnamon stick
  18. 1 bay leaf
  19. 1-2 cups water or as required
  20. Salt to taste
  21. 1 sprig fried curry leaves

Instructions

  1. HEAT 2 TBSPS COCONUT OIL. ADD 1 TSP EACH FENNEL SEEDS, CUMIN SEEDS, PEPPERCORNS AND SAUTE FOR A MIN
  2. ADD 2 ONION SLICED AND SAUTE FOR 2 MINS.
  3. ADD 1 TBSP GINGER GARLIC PASTE AND SAUTE FOR A MIN
  4. ADD 2 TOMATOES CHOPPED AND SAUTE TILL IT TURNS SOFT AND MUSHY.
  5. ADD 1 TSP TURMERIC POWDER, 1 TBSP CHILLY POWDER, 1 TSP CORIANDER POWDER AND SALT TO TASTE
  6. SAUTE THE MASALAS FOR A MIN AND ADD 1/4 CUP OF WATER
  7. BRING IT TO A BOIL, COVER THE PAN AND COOK FOR 1-2 MINS
  8. LET THE MASALA COOL DOWN AND ADD THEM IN A MIXIE JAR.
  9. ADD 1 TBSP GRATED COCONUT, 2 TBSPS POPPY SEEDS,6 WHOLE CASHEWNUTS AND GRIND THEM INTO A SMOOTH PASTE
  10. HEAT 1 TBSP COCONUT OIL AND ADD 2 CARDAMOM, 1 SMALL CINNAMON STICK, 3 CLOVES, 1 BAY LEAF
  11. SAUTE FOR A MIN AND ADD THE MASALA PASTE.
  12. STIR CONTINOUSLY AND COOK FOR ABOUT 2 MINS.
  13. ADD 1 CUP OF WATER AND STIR NICELY BLENDING THEM WELL TOGETHER
  14. ADD 5 CLEANED CRABS APPROX 750 GMS AND MIX WELL
  15. BRING IT TO A BOIL, COVER THE PAN AND COOK FOR 15 MINS. ADJUST THE GRAVY CONSISTENCY AS REQUIRED
  16. GARNISH WITH 1 SPRIG FRIED CURRY LEAVES AND TAKE OFF THE HEAT
