Misal Pav

Ingredients to make Misal Pav

  • White/Green dry peas - 1/2 cup
  • Garam Masala -1 tspn
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Pav bhaji masala - 1/2 tspn
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 3/4 tspn
  • Onion - 1 Big(Finely chopped)
  • Tomato -1 big(Finely chopped)
  • Jeera- 1/2 tspn
  • Salt -to taste
  • Oil - 1 tbsn
  • For The Misal Pav
  • Pav buns - 6
  • Finely Chopped Onion - 1/2 cup
  • Finely Chopped coriander leaves -1/2 cup
  • Sev - 1/2 cup
  • Lemon -1 diced

How to make Misal Pav

  1. *Soak the dry peas for 8 hrs OR overnight.
  2. *In a pressure cooker ,heat the oil,temper with jeera.Once it turns brown add the chopped onion.The onion turns transculent add GG paste.saute it well until the raw smell goes away.
  3. Next add the chopped tomato,saute it until it turns mushy.Then add all masala powders,saute it very well till the raw smell goes away.
  4. Now add salt +soaked peas+3 cups water.Pressur cook it upto 3-4 whistles.Once the pressure releases mash the gravy lightly and boil it for 5 mins.Switch off the flame.Misal is ready now.
  5. How to serve : Take the misal in a bowl/plate add the chopped onion,coriander leaves ,squeeze a few drops of lemon juice and finally top with sev.
  6. Serve the Misal with pav buns,chopped onion & coriander leaves,lemon wedges and sev.

My Tip:

Normally it can be cooked with moth beans or mixed sprouts, you can also topped with chopped tomato while serving.
