Ingredients to make moong dal with tadka

  • 1/2 cup washed split moong dal
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • salt, to taste
  • water, as required
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp dry mango powder or amchoor
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 onion
  • coriander, for garnish

How to make moong dal with tadka

  1. Add dal, water,salt, turmeric powder and ginger in a pressure cooker.
  2. Cook for 1-2 whistles and then on low flame for 3-4 mins.
  3. Let the steam go off then open the cooker.
  4. Take out dal in a bowl, add chopped onion and coriander on top.
  5. Sprinkle red chilli powder and dry mango powder.
  6. Heat ghee in a tadka pan and add cumin seeds.
  7. Put this tadka on dal and serve hot.
