ABOUT Semolina Honey Cake RECIPE

Easy and tasty semolina cake is the all-time favorite snack in our home. We make this cake on regular basis. Soaking semolina in the prepared liquid mixture is a must. Use more milk to adjust the consistency. Honey-water syrup is optional.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Fine Semolina or sooji – 1 ½ cup
  2. Flour or Maida – ½ cup
  3. Baking powder- 1 tsp
  4. Baking soda - 1 tsp
  5. Sugar – ¾ cup (Adjust sugar as per sweetness required.)
  6. Thick Curd- ½ cup
  7. Olive oil or any odorless oil/butter – 1/2 cup
  8. Milk – 1 ½ cup
  9. Cardamom powder – 1 ½ tsp
  10. For Syrup – Honey – 3-4 tbsp
  11. Warm water – 1 tbsp
  12. Garnish – Cherries, Rice krispies round

Instructions

  1. Sift flour or Maida twice. Keep aside.
  2. Dry roast fine Suji or Semolina. Cool completely.
  3. In a large bowl take curd, oil, 1 cup milk and powdered sugar. Beat with electric beater until fluffy.
  4. Add Maida, cardamom powder. Whisk it again.
  5. Add semolina. Whisk or beat it. Cover and keep aside for 30 minutes. This will help semolina to soak in the liquid mixture.
  6. After 30 minutes, add remaining milk. Beat it. If required add more milk until batter forms a right consistency.
  7. Preheat oven to 180-Degree-C.
  8. Add baking powder and soda. Beat it for few seconds. Don’t overbeat.
  9. Grease baking pan with oil and flour. Sprinkle some Tutti-frutti.
  10. Pour the mixture into a greased pan. Smooth out and lightly tap the pan.
  11. Sprinkle remaining Tutti-frutti.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°c for 30-32 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  13. Remove cake and let it cool on wire rack.
  14. In a small bowl mix honey and water. Brush it on cake evenly.
  15. Garnish it with sliced cherries and round rice Krispies.
  16. Serve with hot tea.
