ABOUT Veggie Farm-house Pizza! RECIPE

Pizza is the holy grail of all comfort foods and anyone who doesn't agree with this statement, is not a true foodie!! This recipe is pretty easy and results in the most delicious, crisp pizzas loaded with a variety of vegetables.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For the dough-
  2. 2 cups plain flour
  3. ½ cup luke-warm water
  4. 1 tsp sugar
  5. 1 tsp dry yeast
  6. ½ tsp salt
  7. 3 tbsp olive oil
  8. 1-2 tbsn water for kneading, if needed
  9. For the Tomato & Basil Pizza sauce-
  10. 2 red tomatoes
  11. 4 tbsn passata or 2 tbsn tomato puree
  12. 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  13. Some fresh basil leaves, washed
  14. 2 tbsp olive oil
  15. 1 tsp sugar
  16. 1 tsp dry & mixed Italian herbs
  17. 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  18. Salt and pepper to taste
  19. Also needed- toppings of your choice!

Instructions

  1. Firstly, let us activate the yeast for the dough. In a large mixing bowl, take luke-warm water, dry yeast and sugar. Mix well and keep to rest for 10 mins. When you see a foamy layer, that means your yeast has activated well.
  2. Next, add your flour, salt and oil. Combine it into a soft dough. Dust some flour on the kitchen platform and knead your dough very well for 8-9 minutes to activate gluten. Knead into a smooth ball.
  3. Grease a deep bowl with oil and place your dough in it. Cover with a cling wrap. Rest the wrapped bowl of dough in a warm place for 2 hours.
  4. In the meantime, prepare your pizza sauce. In a saucepan, heat some olive oil. Add the chopped garlic and basil leaves. Saute for a few seconds. Add the blanched tomatoes. Mix and cook covered for 4-5 minutes on medium-low flame.
  5. Add the passata/puree and mix well. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes more, till you see oil on the top of the mixture. Add the tomato sauce, salt, pepper, sugar and Italian seasonings. The pizza sauce is ready. Cool and set aside.
  6. To make the pizza.. Take the risen flour and punch the dough lightly with fist to release down the air. Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes more on the dusted kitchen platform. Divide into three parts and roll into round balls.
  7. Place one doughball on a dusted baking paper. With a rolling pin, flatten the dough-ball into a medium-sized pizza crust. Leaving a little space on all sides of the pizza, dollop your cooled pizza sauce and spread it evenly.
  8. Top with your colorful veggie toppings, salt, pepper and mozzarella cheese. Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees.
  9. Bake your pizza for 12-15 minutes. Cut into slices and enjoy!
