Bajra Khichdi

Ingredients to make Bajra Khichdi

  • 1/2 cup bajra
  • 1/2 cup chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp hing
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • salt to taste

How to make Bajra Khichdi

  1. Soak bajra overnight or for around 8 hours in plain water.
  2. Take a pan and add bajra, chana dal , turmeric and salt to it. Add water and cook it.
  3. You can even combine the bajra, dal, salt, turmeric and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  4. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the hing and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  5. Add the cooked bajra- dal mixture, mix well and cook while stirring occasionally. Serve immediately.
