Sweet and Spicy Tomato Chutney With Garlic

Ingredients to make Sweet and Spicy Tomato Chutney With Garlic

  • Large tomatoes finely chopped 6
  • garlic finely chopped 4 cloves
  • Black pepper corns 1 tbsp
  • cinnamon 1"piece
  • Green chilies finely chopped 2
  • cashewnuts roughly chopped 1/4cup
  • Sugar /jaggery 1/4cup
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Juice of one lemon
  • salt to taste

How to make Sweet and Spicy Tomato Chutney With Garlic

  1. To begin making the chutney, take a heavy bottom pan, add all the ingredients except sugar , lemon juice and red chili powder .
  2. Cook it at medium flame until the tomatoes have softened by stirring it continuously.
  3. When the tomatoes soften, add sugar and red chili powder and continue cooking until the tomato chutney thickens.
  4. When it thickens, remove from stove. Now add lemon juice and stir. Check the salt, sweetness and spice and adjust to suit your taste.
  5. The Sweet and Spicy Tomato Chutney is now ready to be served.

My Tip:

You can use fresh garlic ( both white and green ) instead of garlic cloves.
