Sprouted moong daal khichdi

Ingredients to make Sprouted moong daal khichdi

  • Sprouted moong daal 1 cup
  • Basmati rice 1/2 cup
  • mustard and cumin seeds 1/2 tea spoon each
  • tomato puree 1 table spoon
  • Desi ghee as desired....i used 1 table spoon
  • asafoetida... 1 pinch
  • Salt and green chillies to taste
  • Whole red chillies 2 or 3
  • coriander leaves chopped 1 table spoon
  • Garlic chopped fi ely 1 tea spoon

How to make Sprouted moong daal khichdi

  1. Soak rice for 30 minutes after washing it thoroughly
  2. In a pressure pan or cooker, put ghee, heat it and add asafoetida, mustard and cumin seeds, garlic and red chillies and let them splutter
  3. Add tomato puree, cook it for a while, add sprouted moong and rice, saute for a minute and salt alongwith 1 and 1/2 cup of water and cook to 2 whistles

  6. Let the pressure release on its own. Open and serve hot hot with coriander leaves chopped as garnish
  7. Healthy, filling and comforting dish is ready to be enjoyed
  8. You may add ghee and lemon juice or red chilly powder tadka on it (which is totally optional)
  9. Khichdi is ready ... Serve it with ghee, curd, papad and achar

My Tip:

This khichdi can be had with sprouted urad daal also. Cooking time increases then
