Aloo Coconut Thirattipal

Ingredients to make Aloo Coconut Thirattipal

  • Big size potatoes : 2
  • Thick coconut Milk : 1 cup
  • Raw rice : 1/4 cup
  • ghee : 1/2 cup
  • sugar : 200 grams
  • cashews : 5
  • raisins : 5
  • cardamom powder : 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Aloo Coconut Thirattipal

  1. Boil potatoes, peel the skin and then mash them.
  2. Soak raw rice in water for one hour.
  3. In a blender, add the mashed potatoes and the soaked rice. Add 1 cup of water and blend into a fine paste.
  4. Add ghee in a heavy-bottomed vessel.
  5. Add cashews and raisins. Fry until they become golden brown in colour. Remove and keep aside.
  6. In the same pan add the grounded paste and coconut milk. Mix well.
  7. Keep on mixing it with a spatula for around 20-30 minutes until the mixture becomes like a halwa.
  8. It takes approximately 30 mins to get the halwa consistency.
  9. Once the right consistency is reached, add in the sugar and continue mixing with the spatula for 10 more minutes.
  10. Add 2 more teaspoons of ghee if needed.
  11. Once the sugar dissolves, sprinkle cardamom powder and garnish with fried cashews and raisins. Switch off the flame.
  12. Aloo coconut thirattipal is ready.
