It is yummy, little different to taste from traditional alur dam, it is very easy to cook & tasty.

Ingredients to make Dam aloo in South Indian style.

  • Boiled potatoes 8 pcs.
  • Green peas 1/2 cup.
  • Dry red chilli 1 pc.
  • mustard seeds 1 tbsp.
  • Carry leaves 3 tbsp.
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp.
  • onion sliced 1/2 cup.
  • tomato paste 1/2 cup.
  • turmeric powder 2 tbsp.
  • red chilli powder 4 tbsp.
  • salt to taste.
  • water 1/2 cup.
  • Refined oil 1 cup.

How to make Dam aloo in South Indian style.

  1. Boil the potatoes & keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Fry the boiled potatoes
  4. Add dry chilli, mustard seeds & carry leaves in the oil.
  5. Stir for 1 minute.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste in it.
  7. Stir it.
  8. Add sliced onion & saute it.
  9. Add turmeric powder , red chilli powder ,salt & tomato paste.
  10. Cook for 2 minutes in low flame.
  11. Add fried potatoes & green peas in it.
  12. Add water & let it cook for 10 minutes.
  13. Serve hot with rooti / paratha.
