About Kaddu Channe ki Dal Recipe

A variation to your everyday Dal, to be served with rice or roti.

Kaddu Channe ki Dal

Ingredients to make Kaddu Channe ki Dal

  • Channa dal Washed Soaked 1 cup
  • White Pumkin cut in medium cubes 1 cup
  • oil 2 tsp
  • Heeng [asafoetida] a pinch
  • jeera [cumin seeds] 1 tsp
  • garlic chopped 2 tsp
  • ginger 1 tsp chopped
  • onion 2 chopped
  • tomato 1 chopped
  • salt to taste
  • Haldi [turmeric powder] 1 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tsp or accordingly
  • sugar a pinch
  • water as required

How to make Kaddu Channe ki Dal

  1. In a pressure cooker heat oil. Add heeng jeera and let jeera splutter
  2. Add Ginger Garlic and green chillies and saute for a minute
  3. Add onions and caramalise on slow flame. Add salt to speed up the process
  4. Now add haldi lal mirch mix well. Add tomatoes and cook till they turn a little mushy
  5. Add washed pumpkin and mix all ingredients. Keep the flame medium. After 3 to 4 minutes add channa dal and water as per your requirement. Add remaining salt or to taste
  6. Pressure cook on high for 4 5 whistles and then simmer on low flame for another minutes.
  7. Once pressure drops. Check dal. Adjust water if necessary according to your consistency. Serve with roti rice and sabzi

My Tip:

I add a pinch of sugar just for the hint of it .
