About Upma Recipe

This is a quick, healthy and easy recipe to make upma which is a great breakfast option.

Ingredients to make Upma

  • ghee 1tbsp
  • 1 tsp chana dal soaked
  • 1/4 th tsp hing [asafoetida]
  • 1/2 tsp rai [mustard seeds]
  • 1 finely chopped Green chilli
  • 6 to 7 kadipatta
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • 1 medium size carrot finely grated orange
  • salt according to taste
  • Pinch red chilli powder
  • Pinch haldi [turmeric powder]
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 lemon juice squeeze
  • 1/4 th tomato very finely chopped
  • 1 cup roasted semolina
  • 3 cup luke warm water
  • Chat masala [as required]
  • coriander leaves

How to make Upma

  1. Take a pan add ghee when hot, add hing, rai, Chana Dal then add onion, kadipatta, and green chilli when pink in colour add carrot mix nicely..
  2. Add all dry masala sugar lemon juice mix nicely.. Now add roasted suji mix nicely then according to consistency add luke warm water..
  3. When it boils and is thick enough,switchoff gas sprinkle chaat Masala and coriander leaves.. Serve hot with coconut chutney

My Tip:

Always roast d suji and keep and in upma use ghee...
