About Banana Shikran or Kelyache Shikran Recipe

This is traditional Maharashtrian dessert which is been prepared in every house hold, popularly called as “Kelyache Shikran.” Quick, healthy and tasty which can be modified using Mash Melon or Chibud or instead of sugar, Jaggery can be added.

Banana Shikran or Kelyache Shikran

Ingredients to make Banana Shikran or Kelyache Shikran

  • banana – 2 green variety, Medium sized (thinly sliced)
  • Castor sugar/sugar – 1 tbsp (adjust)
  • cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
  • Blanched and sliced almonds – 1 ½ tbsp.
  • Chilled Milk – 1 ½ cups
  • For Garnishing - Cherries

How to make Banana Shikran or Kelyache Shikran

  1. Finely chop ¼ of bananas or just mash it using spoon or masher. Keep aside.
  2. In a deep bowl take milk. Add sugar. Mix well until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add Sliced bananas and mashed bananas. Stir well.
  4. Add cardamom powder and blanched sliced almonds. Stir well.
  5. Transfer in a refrigerator or serve immediately.

My Tip:

Don’t keep it in the refrigerator for longer period else taste of the dish will change. Use castor sugar if possible. Use chilled milk and serve this dish immediately. Dry fruits of your choice can be used.
