How to make Banana Dry Fruits Modak

  1. Make a few vertical slits on raw bananas with the help of a knife and apply 2-3 drops of ghee on it. Microwave it for 5-6 minutes or until tender. Don’t remove peels.
  2. Dry roast desiccated coconut.
  3. Once cooled blend bananas with peel into a fine paste. Add dry roasted desiccated coconut, honey and vanilla essence. Grind it till it incorporates well with each other.
  4. In a nonstick pan, heat Ghee. Add banana-desiccated coconut mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Switch off the flame. Let it cool. If the mixture is a too sticky transfer it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  5. Stuffing - Transfer roasted Almonds and Cashew nuts into a blender. Blend into a coarse powder.
  6. In a bowl, mix dry fruits powder, finely chopped raisins, honey. Keep aside.
  7. Assembling – Make small pear-shaped balls about 1 ½ inch out of Banana coconut mixture
  8. Insert them into greased Modak Mould. Rotate clockwise while inserting.
  9. Using thumb make a cavity in the centre. Press it evenly from all the sides.
  10. Fill it with honey dry fruits stuffing.
  11. Make small disk out of banana coconut mixture. Seal the modak from the bottom. Use a teaspoon to make it flat.
  12. Repeat the process with remaining banana-coconut mixture.
  13. Spread roasted desiccated coconut on a plate. Roll Modaks from all the sides,
  14. Garnish and serve.

My Tip:

A drop of Vanilla essence can be added to dry fruits mixture as well. Instead of Honey date syrup or maple syrup can also be used.
