About Banana flower and drumstick leaves fry Recipe

Banana flower is good for women who suffer from excessive bleeding (menorrhagia) during menstruation. Both banana flower and drumstick leaves helps to increase breast milk production. Drumstick leaves are rich in antioxidants which helps protect cells from damage.

Ingredients to make Banana flower and drumstick leaves fry

  • onion - 1 cup finely chopped
  • garlic - 4-5 cloves finely chopped
  • Drumstick leaves - 1 cup
  • Plantain flower - 1 cup chopped
  • salt to taste
  • Grated coconut - 1/2cup
  • For the seasoning
  • oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • urad dal - 2 tsp
  • Red chillies - 2-3

How to make Banana flower and drumstick leaves fry

  1. Clean banana flower and chop it finely.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves. When dal turns golden brown, add finely chopped onion and garlic.
  3. Saute until onion turns transparent.
  4. Add drumstick leaves and cook covered. It will not take more than 5 minutes
  5. Once the leaves are cooked, add the cooked banana flower and salt needed
  6. Mix well and cook covered for another 2 minutes.
  7. Add grated coconut and switch off the flame.

My Tip:

To avoid discoloration of banana flower chopped it and put into rice water.
