Sabudana khichdi

Ingredients to make Sabudana khichdi

  • sabudana 1 and 1/2 cup
  • peanuts roasted & crushed 1/4 cup
  • green chillies 4-5
  • dry red chillies 1 (optional)
  • potato 1 medium sized
  • ghee 3 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • lime juice optional
  • salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, a few sprigs

How to make Sabudana khichdi

  1. Wash the sabudana 2-3 times and then soak it in 1 cup of water for 3-4 hours. The sabudana grains should be separate and moist. Roast the peanuts on a hot griddle.
  2. Wash the green chillies, then remove the stem and chop finely. Peel and wash the potato and cut it into 1/2 cm cubes. Wash and chop the coriander leaves.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan, add the cumin seeds and add the chopped green chillies. When the cumin seeds crackle add the potato cubes and cook till the potatoes are done.
  4. Add the sabudana and roasted peanuts, saute for 4-5 minutes while stirring well. Sprinkle a little water and add the salt and lime juice. Mix well and remove from the heat.
  5. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot.
