Maka Masala

Ingredients to make Maka Masala

  • 7-8 corn pieces, broken into 4 inch length
  • 1 medium sized onion big cubes
  • 1 big sized tomato big cubes
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2 inch ginger piece
  • 1 big garlic clove
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp dhania powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Maka Masala

  1. Heat 1 tsp oil and put in all the onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and green chilli.
  2. Stir for 2 mins, then let it cool down. Once cooled, make a smooth paste of this mixture.
  3. Heat 1 tsp of oil and add cumin seeds. When it starts to splutter add the paste with a little water.
  4. Stir as the oil separates from the paste, meanwhile add all the spices.
  5. Now add in the corn pieces with a little water in the pressure cooker. Let it cook till 2 whistles blow, then remove the lid.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with rice.

My Tip:

You can make this with frozen corns as well or scrape the whole corn and follow the same procedure.
