All time favourite sambhar without sambhar powder

Sambhar

Ingredients to make Sambhar

  • 1 cup chopped lauki
  • 1 cup chopped sitaphal
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup Toor dal soaked or boiled
  • For sambhar paste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp methi dana
  • 1 pinch hing
  • 2 tsp chanadal
  • 2 tsp rice
  • 7 or 8 curry leaves
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cardamon green
  • 5 saboot red chillie
  • salt acc to taste
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tsp degi red mirch powder for colour
  • 1 tsp haldi
  • For sambhar
  • Half cup tamarind paste
  • 2 piece jaggery
  • 1 tsp mustard seed
  • curry leaves
  • 2 red chillies

How to make Sambhar

  1. For sambhar paste
  2. Take a pan , add oil (stove should be on low flame) wen oil get hot add jeera seed
  3. Afterthat add methi dana , coriander seeds , hing,cloves cardamon , curry leaves saute well on low flame
  4. Add chanadal , rice , red chillie Saute very well till spices leave aroma
  5. After 2 min add onion mix well Salt, red chillie powder, mix till onion turns transulant
  6. Switch off gas flame let it be cool
  7. Grind the mixture with little water Paste should be very fine
  8. For sambhar
  9. Take cooker add oil when oil turns hot add all chopped vegetables, mix very well , add sambhar paste, boiled Toor dal, 4 cups water
  10. Mix all the ingredients , wait till the water boiled
  11. Close the lid wait for 4 whistle on high flame .
  12. Simmer the gas , without opening the lid let boil on low flame for 10 min
  13. When pressure comes out on its own , open the lid add tamarind and jaggery mix well
  14. For baghar
  15. In a bowl add oil mustard seeds Red chillie mix well n put on sambhar
  16. Mix well hotel style delicious sambhar ready to serve Enjoy with idli or dosa as per taste
