Mangalore Buns / Banana Buns

Ingredients to make Mangalore Buns / Banana Buns

  • 1 Medium sized ripe banana
  • 3-4 Tbs. sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. cumin Seed
  • salt - 1pinch
  • 1/4 baking soda
  • 1 Tbs yogurt / Curd
  • 1.5 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbs ghee / Oil
  • oil for frying

How to make Mangalore Buns / Banana Buns

  1. In a mixing bowl, take ripe banana and sugar, Mashed well.
  2. Add All Purpose Flour, 1 Tbs Yogurt / Curd, Salt, Baking Soda, Cumin Seed in banana puree and knead well.
  3. If required water add some water. Knead smooth dough. While kneading you can apply some ghee/oil and knead.
  4. Keep the dough covered in a pot for overnight or 7-8 hours. lightly knead dough the next morning and thick puri and fry till they are puffed and golden.
  5. Serve with a cup of Tea or Coffee.
