About Khatta murg Recipe

Chicken prepared with dry mango powder.

Khatta murg

Ingredients to make Khatta murg

  • chicken 1 kg
  • Sliced onion 3 large
  • ginger,garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Green cardamom powder1tsp
  • cinnamon 1 piece
  • Dry mango powder1 tbsp
  • Hung curd 1 tbsp
  • cloves 2 nos
  • Black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • cashew nut 1 tbsp
  • cumin 1/2 tsp
  • Desi ghee -3 tbsp
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Khatta murg

  1. Wash the chicken properly , and marinade with 1/2 tsp ginger,garlic paste,1/2 tsp salt,1/2 tbsp curd and black pepper powder,keep aside for 1/2 hour.
  2. Soak the cashew nut in warm water for 10 to 15 minute.
  3. Heat the ghee in a pan and fry 1tbsp sliced onion golden. and keep out the onion on a kitchen paper.
  4. Now make a fine paste with fried onion soaked cashew nut and renaming curd .
  5. Now pop the whole spices cumin in renaming ghee and saute the renaming onion.
  6. Add ginger,garlic saute it, add red chili powder,coriander powder and cook the masala for 2 minute .
  7. Add marinated chicken and salt fry it for 5 minute stir continuously.
  8. Add cashew nut paste,mango powder,cardamom powder and water as per required .cover n cook till it done.
  9. Switch off the gas,add lemon juice garnish with coriander ,serve hot with paratha .

My Tip:

You can use pomegranate seeds powder instead of dry mango powder.
