Grandma's recipe tamarind rasam with onion and garlic gives good taste along plain rice and dosa.

Ingredients to make Tamarind rasam

  • tamarind 2 gooseberry sized
  • water 6 cup
  • salt 1 tsp
  • chilly powder 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder a pinch
  • jaggery 1 - 2 lemon sized
  • coriander leaves chopped 1 tsp
  • garlic pods few
  • onion chopped 1 cup

How to make Tamarind rasam

  1. HEAT A TSP OF COOKING OIL, ADD MUSTARD SEEDS AND RED CHILLI, LET IT CRACKLE
  2. FRY GARLIC TILL GOLDEN BROWN
  3. CHOPPED ONION, FRY TILL TENDER
  4. SOAKED TAMARIND EXTRACT
  5. SALT
  6. JAGGERY, ALLOW IT DISSOLVES COMPLETELY
  7. TURMERIC POWDER
  8. CHILLY POWDER
  9. ADD CORIANDER LEAVES WHEN IT FINELY BOILS, TURN OFF THE FLAME
