Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the dough:
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 1 tbsp ghee
  4. Water to make the dough
  5. For stuffing:
  6. 1/4 cup dessicated coconut
  7. 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  8. 1/4 cup milk powder
  9. 1/4 cup Milk
  10. 1 tsp ghee
  11. 1/2 tsp green cardamom powder
  12. 1 tbsp chironji seeds
  13. For Sugar Syrup:
  14. 1/2 cup Sugar
  15. 1/2 cup water
  16. 1/4 tsp Green cardamom powder
  17. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. take flour in a vessel and mix ghee to it
  2. now add water and knead a soft pliable dough
  3. cover the dough and keep aside for 15 minutes
  4. for stuffing:
  5. heat 1 tsp ghee in a kadai and add milk to it
  6. now add milk powder and keep stirring continuously until the mixture appears same like mawa
  7. switch off the flame and transfer it to a bowl
  8. when the mixture cools down, add chironji seeds, cardamom powder, coconut and powdered sugar to it
  9. mix everything well
  10. stuffing is ready
  11. for making gujiya:
  12. knead the dough again after 15 minutes and pinch lemon sized balls from it
  13. take two balls and roll it in two thin circles
  14. make slits on one circle leaving some space on the edges
  15. now stick two prepared circles using water as shown in the image
  16. place stuffing and fold bringing two edges of the circle together
  17. after folding, make pleats with the hands
  18. make all in the same way
  19. heat oil in a kadai
  20. after the oil is properly heated up, reduce the flame to medium
  21. add the preapared gujiyas to the oil, turn sides and fry it till golden brown on both sides
  22. remove from oil and drain it on the paper towel
  23. for making syrup:
  24. add sugar and water in a kadai and bring it to a boil on medium flame
  25. cook the syrup for 4-5 minutes to make one string sugar syrup
  26. switch off the flame and add cardamom powder
  27. now dip the gujiyas into the syrup for 2 minutes
  28. then remove from syrup and serve
