Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. black chick peas - 100 gm (soak 6-8 hours)
  2. turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  3. chopped onion big - 1
  4. chopped tomato big - 1
  5. splitted green chilli- 2
  6. oil - 2tbsp
  7. mustard seeds - 1tsp
  8. asafoetida - pinch
  9. curry leaves - few
  10. salt - to taste
  11. to roast and grind :
  12. grated coconut - 4tbsp
  13. chilli powder - 1 tsp
  14. cumin powder - 1tsp
  15. fennel powder -1/2 tsp
  16. coriander powder - 2tsp

Instructions

  1. Soak black chickpeas for at least 6 hours.
  2. Pressure cook the chickpeas with turmeric powder and a cup of water for 3 whistles.
  3. Roast the given ingredients, cool and paste it,keep aside
  4. Heat oil in a vessel,add mustard seeds,when it pops add curry leaves, pinch asafoetida,then add chopped onion,green chilli and saute well.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, add salt to taste,let it cook till soft.
  6. Add the ground masala and cup of water,let it boil for few minutes.
  7. Add boiled chickpeas and check salt to taste.
  8. Mix well and keep in medium low flame,let it boil for five minutes. switch off.
  9. Now the delicious kadalai curry is ready.Serve this with rice or puttu.
