Its a village style fish gravy with coconut milk and lemon.

Ingredients to make Lemon coconuty anchovy fish gravy

  • Anchovy fish - 1/2 kg
  • onion - 1 finely chopped
  • tomato -2 finely chopped
  • Green chilli - 3
  • garlic - 1 finely chopped
  • coconut milk - half Cup
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • lemon - 1
  • For tempering
  • oil - 3 tablespoon
  • mustard seeds - half teaspoon
  • cumin seeds - half teaspoon
  • curry leaves - few
  • coriander leaves for garnish

How to make Lemon coconuty anchovy fish gravy

  1. Heat a fish pot add oil and then add finely chopped onions and saute well.
  2. Then add slit green chillies,curry and chopped garlic and fry nicely.
  3. Next add chopped tomatoes saute well until become soft and smashed.
  4. Then add turmeric powder,chilly powder and salt and fry well until the raw smell goes away.
  5. Add thick coconut milk and water.Allow to boil.
  6. When boiling add the washed cleaned fish and close with the lid. cook for 10 minutes.
  7. In a small pan add oil for tempering and add the tempering ingredients one by one.
  8. Pour the tempering into the fish gravy and switch off the heat.
  9. Lastly add lemon juice into the fish gravy and garnish with coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with white rice.
