ABOUT Instant Bengal Gram Burfi RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 150 grams bengal gram/chana daal pre soaked overnight
  2. 100 grams Sugar
  3. 150 grams unsweetened milk powder
  4. 1 tablespoon ghee+1 teaspoon
  5. 5-6 pistachios sliced
  6. 5-6 Almonds sliced

Instructions

  1. Drain the chana daal and blend it dry into fine purée without any water
  2. In a mixing bowl combine milk powder, sugar and the daal paste and mix everything well with a spoon
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon ghee in a. wok or a non stick pan and add add the daal-milk powder mix in it
  4. At Low heat, keep stirring constantly
  5. The mixture will first turn liquidy as the sugar melts, then gradually begin to thicken
  6. Keep stirring constantly and scraping the sides of the wok as the mixture thicken
  7. When you arrive at a dry consistency/ notice the mix leaving the sides of the pan, switch off the stove
  8. Grease a tray/a flat surface with 1 teaspoon ghee
  9. Pour the hot mixture on to the greased tray and flatten it from TOP and shift the mix to one corner sharpening the edges using a spatula
  10. Sprinkle the sliced nuts on top
  11. while the mixture is still warm, cut into cubes or burfi shapes and let the mix cool
  12. enjoy your chana daal barfi after its in room temperature
  13. store airtight or refrigerate the leftovers
