Methi leaves curry

Ingredients to make Methi leaves curry

  • methi leaves - 1 bundle
  • Toor dal - 1 handful
  • shallots - 10
  • garlic pods - 12
  • Urad dal - 1 tablespoon
  • Chana dal - 1 tablespoon
  • coriander seeds - 1/2 tablespoon
  • cumin seeds - 1/2 tablespoon
  • red chilly - 6
  • oil
  • salt - as needed
  • coconut - 2 tablespoon
  • tamarind paste - 3 tablespoon
  • curry leaves - 1 Spring
  • coriander Leaves - To Garnish

How to make Methi leaves curry

  1. Clean, wash and chop methi leaves and set aside.
  2. Wash and soak toor dal for 10 min.
  3. Steam toor dal and methi leaves for 3 whistles and set aside.
  4. Chop shallots , garlic and set aside.
  5. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, Channa dal, urad dal.
  6. Allow it to cool.
  7. Grind roasted cumin seeds, coriander seeds, Channa dal, urad dal, grated coconut, steamed toordal and methi leaves to a nice paste.
  8. Heat oil in a pan , add curry leaves , add chopped shallots and garlic pods . Saute them for 5 min .
  9. Add ground paste to the pan.
  10. Saute for 2 min.
  11. Add tamarind paste and salt.
  12. Allow it to boil.
  13. Garnish coriander leaves.
