About Aloo Matar (Potato n peas in tomato gravy) Recipe

Its a delicious gravy dish specially made during winters as we get fresh sweet peas.

Aloo Matar (Potato n peas in tomato gravy)

Ingredients to make Aloo Matar (Potato n peas in tomato gravy)

  • 8 medium - potatoes peeled
  • N cut in chunks.
  • 1 cup - peas
  • 2 large - onions minced
  • 4 medium - tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 no. - green chillies minced
  • 1 tsp - tomato puree kissan
  • 1 tsp - jeera whole
  • 1 no. - bayleaf
  • 1 big - cardamom
  • 1 .5 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp- turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Refined oil
  • 1 tbsp - fresh coriander leaves
  • Chopped..
  • water as required

How to make Aloo Matar (Potato n peas in tomato gravy)

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker
  2. Add jeera whole, cardamom,
  3. Bayleaf n minced onions..
  4. Saute till pinkish in color..
  5. Saute for 2 minutes..
  6. Now add the tomato puree..
  7. Mix well.. add all the spices n
  8. Salt..
  9. Saute till the sides leave oil..
  10. Now add the potatoes n peas.
  11. Mix gently.. Saute for 5 min..
  12. Now add the water ..
  13. Check spices n salt n adjust...
  14. Close the pressure cooker n
  15. cook for 1 whistle only..
  16. Let the steam get released..
  17. Serve in serving bowl.
  18. Garnish with fresh coriander
  19. leaves...
  20. Serve hot with Phulkas ,Rice
  21. Or Paranthas...

My Tip:

You can use frozen peas too..
