ABOUT Fried Breadsticks... RECIPE

Awesome breadsticks made in the comfort of your homes and deep fried for a lovely crunch and taste. These make for light dessert cum snack for any get together at home or even a kids party. If you intend to skip yeast, then feel free to add an egg if desired. Crunchy and yummy breadsticks are ready in no time and these does not require a long time to fry too. Almost done in a jiffy, these are worth a try for sure.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. All purpose flour 2 1/2 cups
  2. Dry active yeast 1 tbsp
  3. Melted butter or ghee 1 tbsp
  4. Milkmaid 1/2 cup
  5. Warm milk 3/4th cup
  6. Sugar 1 tsp
  7. Sesame seeds for garnishing 1/4th cup
  8. Oil for frying 2 cups

Instructions

  1. First of all, add sugar and yeast to the warm milk.
  2. Stir it lightly and allow it to prove for nearly 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. As soon as it is frothy, it is all ready.
  4. Take the flour in a large bowl.
  5. Add melted butter and milkmaid to it.
  6. Finally add the yeast mix and knead it into a smooth dough.
  7. At first it is slightly sticky but continue with the kneading for nearly 5 minutes to make it smooth and elastic.
  8. Cover with a damp cloth and keep it in a dark and airy corner in the kitchen or preferably in the oven to rise in volume for 1 hour or more.
  9. After an hour, punch the dough once to release the air bubbles and bring it onto the working surface.
  10. Divide it into 3 or 4 equal parts.
  11. Dust a little flour and start rolling each.
  12. Cut into small cylindrical logs and set aside until the oil gets heated up.
  13. Deep fry these in hot oil on medium flame until golden from both the sides.
  14. Keep turning them for an even cooking.
  15. Sprinkle with sesame seeds on top and serve immediately or after a few minutes.
  16. As they cool down, they become crispier and can be stored in airight containers.
  17. These can be relished upto 15 or more days.
