Puli kolumbu

Ingredients to make Puli kolumbu

  • 250 grams pearl onion
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup sliced garlic
  • 4 to 5 tabs oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp jaggery
  • 1/4 cup tamarind juice
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp coriander Powder
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp sambar powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp hing
  • curry leaves
  • 2 broken bits dry chilli
  • 1 tsp mustard

How to make Puli kolumbu

  1. heat the pan add oil when Olivia hot add mustard seeds when it starts popping add garlic stir add curry leaves and broken dry chilli bits stir
  2. now add chopped tomato and salt mix well and cook till tomato becomes soft
  3. take a small bowl to this add tamarind juice chilli powder coriander powder cumin powder turmeric powder and sambar powder mix well to smooth paste if it is thick add some water keep aside
  4. when tomatoes become soft to this add cleaned and peeled pearl onion mix well for 2 minutes
  5. after 2 minutes time to add tamarind mixture mix well adjust salt and add jaggery stir for 2 minutes add 1 cup water and let it cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until done on a low flame
  6. yummy tangy puli kolumbu is ready serve with hot white rice drizzle some ghee and some papad yum thank you enjoy happy cooking
