Deep fried bread slices dipped in creamy sugar syrup.

Ingredients to make Shahi Tukre.

  • White bread 8 to 10 slices
  • Full cream milk 1 litre
  • sugar 200 gms
  • Whole cardamom 3 or 4
  • ghee 200 gms
  • saffron strands a pinch
  • Chopped nuts of your choice for garnishing

How to make Shahi Tukre.

  1. Boil the milk with sugar and cardamom and cook on slow flame until it reduces to half add saffron and keep aside.
  2. Remove the crust from the bread and cut into halves in triangular or rectangular shape.
  3. Fry the bread slices from both sides.
  4. Arrange the slices on a serving dish and pour the milk and sugar syrup evenly over it.
  5. Garnish with nuts.
  6. Keep in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
