About Basbousa (eggless semolina cake) Recipe

Basbousa is Mediterranean dessert they make this with semolina and there's use of maple syrup honey or sugar syrup here I have used sugar syrup,here I have given twist to coconut by adding coloured coconut flakes and almond flakes its very good easy and less time consuming recipe

Ingredients to make Basbousa (eggless semolina cake)

  • INGREDIENTS FOR CAKE
  • 2 cups of semolina
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1cup curd
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup +2tbsp butter
  • Ingredients for syrup
  • 1cup sugar
  • 1 &1/2 cup water
  • 1stick of cinamon
  • 1/4 tsp of lemon juice
  • Ingredients for GARNISH
  • coconut flakes 1 cup
  • almond flakes 1/2 cup

How to make Basbousa (eggless semolina cake)

  1. melt butter and keep aside
  2. preheat oven on 160 degrees
  3. take semolina in bowl
  4. mix sugar and curd
  5. add this to semolina
  6. now add milk and baking powder
  7. add to semolina
  8. now add butter to semolina batter
  9. mix batter with spatula
  10. mix and keep aside for 8-10 minutes
  11. now grease a pan
  12. add batter to pan
  13. keep for baking on 160 degrees for 35-40 minutes
  14. process of making syrup
  15. add sugar to pan
  16. add water to sugar
  17. add stick of cinnamon
  18. let the syrup boil till it thickens
  19. now switch off the flame
  20. add lemon juice to syrup
  21. remove baked cake from oven
  22. pour this syrup on hot cake cake
  23. divide coconut flakes in three parts
  24. add pink colour to one part
  25. likewise make three colours of coconut flakes
  26. you can keep white coconut as it is also
  27. sprinkle coconut and almond on Basbousa
  28. keep for hour and then serve
  29. it will soak the syrup in cake

My Tip:

Soaking in syrup will give good results
