Sangia,a popular jaggery dessert, made widely in karaikkals muslim communities, south Tamilnadu. This dessert is very similar to caramel custard made of eggs.Delicious dessert perfect for any festive occasion.

SANGIA

Ingredients to make SANGIA

  • eggs-3
  • jaggery powder-2 cups
  • cashew nuts or almond-250 grams(grounded to a fine paste)
  • Elachi Powder-1/2 teaspoon
  • nutmeg Powder-1/4 teaspoon
  • coconut milk- 1 cup

How to make SANGIA

  1. Mix all the ingredients together but make sure you don’t beat the mixture,as this would create bubbles in the Sangia.
  2. Pour the mixture in a ramekins baking dish, cover with silver foil and place it in a oven tray.
  3. Pour hot water in the tray until it covers half the height of the dish.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 150 degree Celsius for 40 to 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it be cool to room temperature.
  6. Unmould and refrigerate.Serve cold.

My Tip:

You may add custard powder instead of eggs.
